A Victorian affair in Montréal
Local stylist claims Canada’s Young Colourist of the Year honor at L’Oréal Colour Trophy
Victoria, BC – Amie Roy of Carreiro the Studio is Canada’s young colourist of the year for 2010. The L’Oréal Colour Trophy is an annual competition and gala held in the nation’s fashion
headquarters, Montréal, QC. Hailed as “the Oscars of the Canadian Hairdressing Industry,” the L’Oréal Colour Trophy is a celebration of artistic and technical talents of hairdressers
nationwide.
Carreiro the Studio received further acclaim when the team of stylist John Carreiro, colourist Kelsey Carvalho, model Jana Heins-Kaemmer and make-up artist Cassandra Chu took home
top provincial honours for British Columbia.
The 25-year-old Roy has brought colour and hair design to the hair of Victorians from Carreiro the Studio since 2008. “It feels amazing,” says Roy, “just to have the opportunity to go to
Montréal, and to be around talented and recognized international professionals was an honour. Winning at this level of competition is a truly humbling experience.” Roy’s model, Melissa Parish is also a stylist at Carreiro the Studio.
In the industry for six years and at Carreiro the Studio for three, Carvalho is no stranger to competition. Last year she was chosen by the Canadian Cosmetology Competition Association
to represent Canada at the World championships in Germany.
“I am so happy for Amie and Kelsey,” says master stylist John Carreiro. “They have both worked so hard to be leaders in the industry and it is great to see their hard work pay off.”
Roy’s first place finish at the prestigious L’Oréal Colour Trophy was quick to pay dividends. She is receiving critical acclaim from the industry and is poised to compete internationally. Roy grew
up spending time in her mother’s Ontario salon, inspiring her to work in the industry. Her recent achievement is the first step to cementing her name as one of Canada’s best young hair
designers.
Carreiro the Studio is a nationally known brand recognized for its high standards in fashion and customer service. Located at 1215 Broad Street, Carreiro the Studio has been creating beautiful,
healthy hair in Victoria since 2004.
